My background

I’m Rebecca and I have been a textiles and sewing teacher for the last 17 years, first in person through the Textile Workshop in Sherwood, Nottingham and various locations in Derby and Leicester, gradually moving online and teaching nation-wide via Further Education colleges and private classes. Over the years I have built up a range of online classes on a variety of textile and sustainability topics.

Prior to that, I gained an MA from the Royal College of Art and worked in industry in design and buying (Cath Kidston, Debenhams) before going on to study a teaching qualification, PGCE in further education.

I currently teach a variety of sewing courses online nation-wide and face to face in the community, for alternative education and primary schools.

I feel strongly that learning should be accessible, for my online courses those on benefits or low income can pay a lower rate on all classes.

A woman and a young girl are indoors. The woman has long, wavy brown hair and is wearing a blue dress. The girl has shoulder-length brown hair, is wearing white sunglasses, a dark sleeveless top, a colorful skirt, and dark tights. They are both smiling, with the woman leaning forward and the girl striking a pose. Behind them are sliding glass doors and a wooden sideboard.
